Book Club Connects Adoptive Families
Share the joy of adoption with other adoptive families at our “Families Together Book Club” in Farmington Hills.
Each month, adoptive families and their children meet on a Friday morning to discuss a previously assigned book or magazine article, give support to one another, and converse about parenting and adoption. For the children there are snacks, games, prizes, and lots of other fun activities!
Some of the books or films that have been discussed are: Twenty Things Adopted Kids Wish Their Adoptive Parent Knew by Sherrie Eldridge, Lifebooks: Creating A Treasure For The Adopted Child by Beth O’Malley, Raising Adopted Children by Lois Melina, “Casa de los Babys”, a film directed by J. Sayles, and various children’s books about adoption.
Future books for discussion: Raising Self Reliant Children by H. Stephen Glenn, The Waiting Child by Cindy Champnella (Cindy will join us for this discussion), and When Race Becomes Real by Singley
