We were first introduced to Adoption Associates in 1999 when we decided to begin our family through domestic infant adoption. We contacted numerous agencies, but returned to Adoption Associates, due to their positive reinforcement. They assured us that it was not a matter of “if” we became parents, but a matter of “when.” ...

Every adoption is different, and this path to having a family is rarely straightforward, so having an experienced guide like Adoption Associates at your side is invaluable. The one thing that we wanted most, at every stage, was the best information and advice, and the group at AAI always gave us straight answers to difficult questions. We adopted both our son Owen from Michigan and our daughter Anna from Russia with AAI. ...

As our two biological sons became teenagers, we found we had an empty place in our home and our hearts for a daughter. To learn about the adoption process, we did a lot of research on the internet, read several books, and attended some adoption seminars. While attending one on international adoption at the Lansing AAI office in January of 2003, we picked up a brochure of “waiting children” in Russia. We were both immediately drawn to a picture of a little girl. It’s hard to explain, but from that one little picture you could tell she had the attitude and spunk to overcome any obstacle ...

After researching several agencies, locally and out of state, I decided on Adoption Associates, Inc. to help be my advocate in the adoption process. Being a single, older female, I wasn't sure if the adoption doors would be open to me, but times have changed, and I did qualify through AAI's Russia program. I met with Alla Goncharova, who was raised as a small child in Russia, and she became instrumental in my decision-making process ...
