Educational Opportunities
AAI offers transracial and transcultural training for families adopting an African-American, biracial, or international child. Other educational opportunities include: domestic infant training, seminars, informational panels, and much more. To better protect families and children, we have added more educational requirements for families prior to the adoption, new requirements for post-placement, and stricter screening for prospective parents.
Adoptive Parent Preparation and Adjustment Sessions
Because Adoption Associates, Inc. is committed to providing the most professional and comprehensive services to our clients, we offer adoptive parent preparation and adjustment sessions designed to support parents up to and even beyond the placement of their child. We believe that these sessions will help give adoptive parents the tools they need to make their child’s transition as smooth as possible and allow them to parent their child with more confidence. Because of this, both sessions are required of all AAI families adopting internationally. The cost is included as part of the program fee for families signing up after August 1, 2007. Follow-up sessions are available upon request for an additional fee. Sessions are also available to families adopting through AAI’s domestic program or from other agencies for an additional fee.
